In the last inning of one-run games, when there was a runner on third base and two outs, my uncle and coach Ben would pace back and forth, yelling, "Come on, Paddy, you can do it!" I'd get two strikes on the batter and, before going back to pitch, I'd wink at my uncle and get the third out. He'd run into the diamond and shake my hand.
