- Twenty-fifth letter of the Spanish alphabet, and twentieth of its consonants. Its name is ve or uve. It currently represents the same phoneme as b in all Spanish-speaking countries. Its articulation, therefore, is bilabial and sonorous, occlusive in absolute initial position or after nasal (venid, envío) and fricative in other cases (ave, arveja).
