What does «taguato» mean in Spanish?
- Harrier of 34 cm long and no more than 300 grams, scientific name rupornis magnirostris, (for some authors in the genus Buteo), feeds on small animals and its cry is very characteristic. It is also known as the Montagu's Harrier and Common Taguato. Brown back with dark cap. Ventral striated. It perches erect on poles or trees. It inhabits savannas, mountains and forests from the north of Argentina to the south of Mexico.
