What does «suberización» mean in Spanish?
- In botany, transformation of cellulose into suberin or suber (waxy waterproof tissue), commonly occurs in exposed tissues, as when a callus forms on a wound. During this process the pores of the plant epidermis close and transform into bark. For example, in cacti this process is present when their stems begin to turn brown due to excess moisture. In this way the plant closes its pores so as not to absorb this excess.
