- Said of something that intercepts; that seizes or stops something before it accomplishes its purpose or reaches its destination.

- Grease interceptor. A plumbing device that allows grease and solids to be intercepted before being discharged to sewage outside the house.
- Rainwater interceptor. Device that collects the first waters of a rainfall, which usually contain impurities of various types.
- A type of high-speed fighter aircraft specifically designed to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft. The first interceptors began to be manufactured a few years before World War II. By the late 1960s their role was largely superseded by ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles).
