What does «aragonito» mean in Spanish?
- A variety of calcium carbonate, whose composition is 56% calcium oxide and 44% carbon dioxide. It may also contain strontium, lead and sometimes zinc. Aragonite, CO3Ca, has the same chemical composition as calcite, but is harder and has a higher specific gravity. Aragonite is generally deposited from hot solutions, whereas calcite is deposited from cold solutions and is much more stable than calcite (see Dimorphism).
