Another of the famous errors of the high Middle Ages and modern times was the belief in the existence of aurum vegetabile - vegetable gold. According to the famous journal Breslauer Sammlungen, several 18th century scientists wrote extensive articles on the discovery of vegetable gold in Upper Hungary.
