In Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift ironised about fake scientists who had invented edible wafers to incorporate knowledge; but, as crazy as it may seem, this is quite similar to the real case of flatworms that come to learn the behaviours of the worms they eat, when they incorporate intact RNA molecules from the worms they ate.
