Mexico contains the most extensive range of American hallucinogens. Ololiuqui includes, among others, the red or mescal bean (Sophora secundiflora), peyote, genista or broom (generic name) and more than twenty varieties of the teonanácatl mushroom (mostly of the genus Psilocybe), which in Aztec means 'flesh of God'.
