In the tangle of sounds criss-crossing space with coded messages of insect chirps and drums, we hear no melody because their rhythms are too fast for human ears to pick up. But in the intricate relationship of the unseen world, one insect will always recognise another. Unless, of course, it is a locust without one of its legs, unable to hear or detect another of its kind.
