The ancient pterosaurus had forelimbs ending in a "hand" with a highly developed fourth finger and showed, on the sides of the body, large folds of skin, similar to the membranes of bats, which, together with the arms and the fourth finger, formed a primitive wing, lacking central armour and very vulnerable.
