What does «surubí» mean in Spanish?
- River fish native to South America. It is a large catfish, smooth skin, without scales, with black spots. It has three distinctive pairs of barbels. It is a type of catfish. It can reach a length of 1.8 m and a weight of 90 kg. Its yellow, compact flesh is highly appreciated and tasty. In Peru it is known as doncella or zúngaro. The small surubí is often called cachorro.
