What does «achalay» mean in Spanish?
- Interjection or expression of joy and taste, meaning "¡que lindo!" or "¡qué bueno!". In northern Argentina it is used especially when perceiving a pleasant smell of flowers or fruits, sometimes also for a rich flavor. The sound of the initial "a" is usually stretched: /aaachalay/.
